Week 5: The Power of Being Selective
I’ve reached the end of Week 5, and the numbers are still heading in the right direction. Despite a few bumps in the road, I managed a 1.9kg loss this week, bringing my total weight loss to 6.6kg.
While the scale is a great motivator, the real victory this week wasn’t a number; it was a change in mindset.

The Weigh-In
- Weight at Start of Week: 120.1kg
- Weight at End of Week: 118.2kg
- Weekly Progress: -1.9kg
- Total Progress: -6.6kg
The “Is It Worth It?” Breakthrough
Earlier this week, I found myself at a crossroads. I was hungry and looking for a snack, but as my wife listed off the available options, I found myself saying “no” to everything. Not because I was being forced to, but because nothing sounded good enough to justify breaking my fast.
This is a massive shift. In the past, I would have eaten whatever was in the cupboard just because it was there. Now, I’m becoming a “selective eater.” If I’m going to use my “fuel” for the day, it better be something I actually enjoy, not just something “stodgy or uninteresting.”
Listening to the Body
I’m also learning to listen to my body’s feedback loop. A few times this week, I felt bloated after meals that I used to finish with ease. It’s a clear sign that my stomach is shrinking and my “fullness sensors” are recalibrating.
Even when I stumbled – like the evening I polished off some unexpected buns and ice cream – I felt the physical “wrongness” of it. That discomfort is actually a gift; it’s my body telling me it prefers the lighter, cleaner way of living. It’s up to me to listen.
